Derek joined Don Mackey Architect in 2002.
Derek, who grew up in Portola, California, attended Feather River College in Quincy, Ca. to study Construction Technology. He then moved to Reno to work in the construction industry and eventually moved into a design position where he spent 4 years working for a local commercial developer.
Since joining the firm, Derek has developed his abilities in design and Building Information Technology (BIM). His knowledge of building systems provides the basis for accurate project modeling and construction detailing. Among his other design duties, Derek is also the office CAD/BIM manager.
Derek is an associate member of the Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA); a member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC); and is an associate member of the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO).
In 2008, Derek passed the Nevada state exam and is now a Nevada Registered Residential Designer.
